The besiegers of Otasan Uchi began to fall back, the night was beginning to give way to the dawn and the powers of evil were waning.
Along with all of the other defenders, Iruko was grateful for the time this would give to rest and reorganize their forces. She dispatched the last goblin that had threatened the northern wall, were she was posted and turned to the stairs...
Without warning the wall shuddered, and it was only her intense training that saved her from the Oni's claws that raked were she had been standing a moment ago.
There was to be no rest this morning, even with their weakened strength, the Oni continued the assault.
Iruko turned to face the spawn of the Kyoso no Oni that towered over her.
Kamas in hand she leapt headlong into battle once more.

I'm really proud of this picture - for once I've not rushed through it to get to the finished result and I think it shows.
I don't normally paint so much these days - and I never ever try it freehand - I'm always using a pen to tidy up the edges - and so this is a first.
I'm really proud of this - I really hope that you like it.
It's not actually watercolour - it's acrylics and the background is chalk. To be honest I wanted to do an actual background but I made the mistake of working on the figures first and couldn't see how to put the background in there and so I just did my usual chalk background.
It's far easier than you'd think - and it works really well. I just rub chalk onto cardboard and then use a cotton wool ball to apply it to the paper - and then repeat with 3 or four different shades/colours. that's how I've done all of my backgrounds like this.

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More

Easy - but very effective.
